2022 Election Voting Day Plan

Due to the coronavirus, the situation surrounding voting is changing quickly.  Every state has different rules for voting.  So let’s make a plan, tell your friends and family to do the same thing, and vote!

Before You Vote

  • Check your voter registration status.  You can do both at vote.org. Check your registration status often!

  • Research what’s on your ballot. Visit Ballotpedia.org that provides nonpartisan information on state ballots.

  • Consider your voting options. Are you voting by mail or voting in person?

Vote By Mail

  • Sign up for an absentee ballot.  You can do both at vote.org. Check your registration status often!

  • Learn about your state’s election process for voting by mail and submitting your ballot. Can you drop off your ballot at the official secure drop box? Can you drop off the ballot during early voting or on an Election Day? 

  • Visit websites of your state’s Secretary of the State and your county’s Election Clerks office on how to submit your ballot. You may also visit vote411.org for both general and state-specific information on the election process.

  • Before you drop off your ballot, make sure you:

    • Place your ballot cards(s) inside an official return envelope

    • Securely seal an official return envelope

    • Sign and date the back an official return envelope

    • Submit your ballot as soon as possible!

  • Track your ballot!  Most states developed systems where voters can track the status of their ballot. Visit the websites of your state’s Secretary of the State and your county’s Election Clerks office.

Voting In Person

  • Know your state’s voter ID requirements and your polling center. Visit the websites of  Vote411.org, your state’s Secretary of the State, and your county’s Election Clerks office.

  • Once you’re in line, stay! If you need help at the polls, call the non-partisan Election Protection Hotline (866-687-8683) for assistance.
